Enthusiasm as Your Default Response.

What if your default response to the unwanted was at worst neutral and at best enthusiastic? To some, that sounds either impossible or just plain stupid. When I pose this question, sometimes the response is something like, “My negative response is what inspires me into action. I don’t want to lose that. I don’t want to become complacent.” The faulty assumption here is that a neutral or even enthusiastic response to the unwanted results in complacency.

What if the opposite is true? What if my ability to act immediately, boldly, and masterfully to solve problems is significantly enhanced by enthusiastic responses? Well, if that’s true (SPOILER ALERT!!! It is.) then I want to know how to reprogram my mind so that my default response to ALL of reality is at worst curiosity and at best, pure enthusiasm.
Here’s how we can rig that up.

Great job Chris. No matter what happens outside of ourselves should not dictate how we act or react to it. I am fascinated by how we feel we should react like when somebody we love passes. What if we really felt joy that they no longer suffered? Now I am not suggesting we leap with joy, but allow ourselves to feel contentment in those situations. The thought comes “What will everyone else feel like if I do not show the same emotions they do?”. In fact, why is there a time limit before someone can get remarried when a spouse dies? Because, what would the neighbors think? Of course no one wants to be called a psychopath either. Have a great day

Dennis, that’s brilliant! Seriously brilliant inquiry right there. I’m fascinated by how I/we react to almost everything! Including what others think of me!

  2. This is so powerful. Just the thought of being able to reprogram the conditioned mind seems like a miracle. Everyone appears to be addicted to their thinking! Thanks much for the freedom you offer.

That’s a great way of putting it, Jack. Freedom, indeed. Free from the conditioning of our pasts that have us unnecessarily settle, struggle and suffer. I appreciate your comment!
