“Your problem is, you think you have time.”
My buddy, Will Keiper, wrote an excellent book on the importance of acknowledging our impermanence. His book, LIFE EXPECTANCY: It’s Never Too Late to Change Your Game, does an excellent job of reminding us of the urgency that Buddha is referencing in the quote above. I encourage you to get a copy of Will’s book. You can click the title above to go to its Amazon page.
In my coaching and speaking, I am always referring to the #1 mistake that people make in the pursuit of the lives of their dreams. That mistake is WAITING. Over time, we are conditioned to embrace thoughts and beliefs that would have us hesitate when it comes to boldly moving toward our ultimate desires. Thoughts of what others might think if we fail. Thoughts of how “hard” it’ll be. Beliefs about the inappropriateness of the desire in the first place. Beliefs about deservedness. Ideas about my degree of readiness or expertise or qualifications. All these useless ideas that we’ve picked up along the way that only serve to have us hesitate.
Well, one of the best medicines to treat this hesitation is DEATH! You’re dying! You’re closer to death now than you were when you started reading this sentence.
What do you want? Get off your ass, rewrite your stories that would have you hesitate, and go take some unprecedented BOLD action today that will move you in the direction of your dreams!
