The 3 Ways We Play Small

Embedded within almost every shred of self-help, personal development, life coaching and success blogs and podcasts is a disastrous implication. It’s a truly toxic message that’s ironically totally contrary to the content that it’s embedded within! It’s like a virus in the medicine! Watch this short clip to see what it is…

Here’s the audio only version, which you can also download as an MP3 file to listen to on the go.

I love this message. I am enough! It’s such a simple point to take away.

Hey Chris, Always appreciate your video messages, thank you!
What would you say to people who mistake playing all out for needing to get somewhere? It looks like the easiest trap that I fall into. How do you help people to play all out without getting attached the outcome meaning something more than it needs to?

Al, it’s so great that you’re asking this precise question at this precise moment! I just had a coaching call with a client and we were discussing just that. It’s the “NEED TO” vs. the “GET TO” mentalities. And here’s a great mantra for it (which is also one of my favorite definitions of enlightenment): Have a mind that is open to everything and attached to nothing.

So I GET TO go ALL IN with my deepest desires and projects. I don’t NEED TO do any of them. I GET TO. ANd it’s fun to be ALL IN. And it’s so very peaceful to know that while I’m ALL IN, I simultaneously have the knowing that nothing needs to happen.

It’s one of my favorite paradoxes.
