We can’t know what’s going to happen next. We can guess with a reasonable degree of certainty, based on historical observation, but even a great degree of certainty contains a degree of uncertainty as well. So we get to make a choice here. We can either be cool with uncertainty (which is freedom), or we can struggle against it (which is hell).
In the context of Emotional Mastery, Surrender means to make the courageous and masterful decision to stop struggling against reality. The ability to surrender requires transcending the egoic temptation to force things in order to get what you want.
When we feel like crap emotionally, it is virtually effortless to go into a state of complete inaction. We just want to blow everything off, vegetate and mope. And that becomes a downward spiral of feeling worse and more immobilized.
As Paulo Coelho, author of The Alchemist, says, “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” The synchronicities are those wonderful, supportive conspiracies.
We are perfect in our imperfection. We are designed to grow and we GET TO do just that. When we do the work of deep personal growth, we are shining the light of consciousness upon that equally beautiful part of our personality, the “dark side” and transforming it. This is the ultimate game.
The conditioning of our pasts would have us believe falsely that we need to wait for external conditions to be magnificent in order to feel magnificent. We have the amazing ability to manipulate our inner states at will, in an instant.
We do not live in a happening TO ME world. We live in a happening FOR ME world.
The learning here is to be cool with the fact that we have all been well educated to play victim. We get to unlearn that and return to our natural creator mentality.
Part of the human experience is that we get to play the Ultimate Game of Hide and Seek. We forget who we are so we can remember who we are.
Not all anguish needs analyzing!
Sometimes all we need to do in order to transcend the doldrums is to simply stop giving it attention.
We are all expressions of Divine Grace in human form. Our nature is loving-kindness. We only hurt others because we are acting out of our own unhealed woundedness.
