In the context of Emotional Mastery, Surrender means to make the courageous and masterful decision to stop struggling against reality. The ability to surrender requires transcending the egoic temptation to force things in order to get what you want.
When we feel like crap emotionally, it is virtually effortless to go into a state of complete inaction. We just want to blow everything off, vegetate and mope. And that becomes a downward spiral of feeling worse and more immobilized.
As Paulo Coelho, author of The Alchemist, says, “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” The synchronicities are those wonderful, supportive conspiracies.
We are perfect in our imperfection. We are designed to grow and we GET TO do just that. When we do the work of deep personal growth, we are shining the light of consciousness upon that equally beautiful part of our personality, the “dark side” and transforming it. This is the ultimate game.
The conditioning of our pasts would have us believe falsely that we need to wait for external conditions to be magnificent in order to feel magnificent. We have the amazing ability to manipulate our inner states at will, in an instant.
