How to Know When You’re Thinking Like A Weakling | The Mental Toughness Coach - Chris Dorris

How to Know When You’re Thinking Like A Weakling

Several years ago, I was a contributor to an online Acadamy that was called Entheos. I’ve decided to recycle these now as blog posts because the content is really good, and I wanted to share it with you.

I love the word “entheos” because interestingly that is the Greek root of the word “enthusiasm.” Entheos means the creator within, and when we activate the state of enthusiasm, we’re activating all forms of creative genius.

I hope you find this content useful and enjoyable, and as always, CREATE MIRACLES!

I will take you through the specific practices of elevating your thoughts and states by utilizing The Freedom Formula and the Catch, Own, Replace technique to become a Thought Warrior.

How to Know When You’re Thinking Like A Weakling

So much of my work is about training people to elevate the quality of their thoughts. After all, your thoughts govern how your life unfolds. So, it’s important, if you’re interested in living a powerful life, to become a Thought Warrior. In fact, one of the other courses I created here at The Entheos Academy is entitled exactly that, (“How To Become a Thought Warrior”), and I highly recommend that you complement this course with that one.

In that course, I take you through the specific practices of elevating your thoughts and states by utilizing The Freedom Formula and the Catch, Own, Replace technique.

Well, this course is all about how to strengthen your ability to CATCH yourself when you’ve got stinking thinking. You can’t strengthen your thoughts if you aren’t aware of them, so here are 10 distinctions that will help you become aware of when your thinking is weak.

1. Cluelessness vs. AWARENESS

The discipline of strengthening your mind and strengthening the way you use it is entirely predicated upon awareness. And awareness can be developed with practice.

2. Goals vs. DECISIONS

I like to say that goals are decisions awaiting their upgrades. Goals are very powerful in comparison to the absence of even a goal. But in comparison to a decision, a goal is actually weak. The difference is simple: a goal leaves the door open for the possibility of “not”, whereas a decision doesn’t. Thus, my actions are massively more masterful.

3. Waiting vs. CREATING

Waiting is the #1 mistake that I witness people making in the pursuit of their desires. They wait for a multitude of reasons. But the common theme among all of those reasons is that the person believes they aren’t ready. They learned that. Which is great news because it can be unlearned.

4. Hoping vs. KNOWING

Both are levels of certainty and both are states of mind. Every state of mind is accessible in every moment of life. Every state is a choice and nothing else. Nothing more and nothing less. When I am knowing that I will have, be, do or get what I want then I am a completely different person than when I’m hoping.

5. Other vs. ALL IN!

I’m either ALL IN or I’m not. When it comes to the things that matter most to me in life, I have two options on my level of commitment to manifesting them. I’m either infinitely committed or I’m not.

6. Ambiguity vs. SPECIFICITY

This is so simple. The more specific the target, the more likely I hit it.

7. Probability vs. DESIRE

So much of our hesitation comes from busying ourselves with questions and considerations and deliberations on probabilities and how likely or unlikely it is that we can have, do, be or get what we want in life. Waste of time. We are horrible at estimating possibilities, so no need to get involved with that when it comes to going for your dreams.

8. “Failure” vs. RESULTS

Failure is a construct. And a useless one at that. It’s simply a weak way of describing a certain outcome – specifically when you don’t get what you want. Well, the truth is that ALL results are equally valuable in uniquely distinct ways.

9. Victim vs. Owner

We are also conditioned to be victims of circumstance. We permit outcomes to govern our states as opposed to the opposite. Have your states govern your outcomes.

10. Complaint vs. ENTHUSIASM

Complaining is so weak. It instantly deactivates all forms of intelligence. A complaint, by definition, is a low grade interpretation of reality. When I complain, I am having a problem with what is. The alternative is much more powerful. To choose to experience reality in an inspired way, with enthusiasm, activates intelligence and creativity centers of the brain and has me be amazing.

Waiting when action is required, not waiting to jump of a bridge.
A problem is identified, and you allow a passive state to prevail.
Doing nothing is almost always wrong. No it’s always wrong.

In business bring in the brain trust, at home listen to why you are wrong, action comes next in both examples. Peace out

    • Chris Dorris says:

Action vs Non-action is a VERY interesting distinction/decision. There actually are times when the decision to choose non-action as your course of action is wise. In Chinese, it’s referred to as Wu Wei. Action through non-action. An example is when caught in an undertow current that is sweeping you under the water and away from the shoreline. To struggle against that force that is far more powerful than you results in drowning. To surrender (which is what the lifeguards and swim teachers teach us to do) results in the riptide slinging us out aways, but to the surface – where we are then able to swim down current a bit and then safely return to the beach.

So there are occasions where a mindful decision to surrender is the wisest action.
