This is the second of two installments in the Playing on Court 1 video blog series. The 1st installment ‘Playing On Court 1 (Part 1 of 2)’ was on Participation. It was about challenging yourself to play with the “ballers” in your craft. Participating with the best of the best so that you steepen your growth curve maximally.
This installment is about Integration. We have all learned to compare ourselves negatively to folks who have achieved higher levels of mastery in our crafts than us. We do that with shaming self-deprication and inferiority. That’s unintelligent. Conversely, there’s great intelligence in enthusiastically integrating what we can learn from these masters into our own performances. All great musicians are proud to let us know who their greatest influences are/were. They’re enthused about the gifts of learning that their heroes have taught them.
