Amidst all the massive layoffs in the tech industry (and others), I was inspired to create a solo podcast episode for the people who are being affected. My intention in sharing this content is to remind folks that we always have options on how to respond to all of life, including circumstances that we consider to be “adversities.”
The inspiration came from someone who was recently laid off and who worked for one of my corporate clients. I want to acknowledge that person for having done years of Mental Toughness Training, which has permitted her to rapidly get into creativity mode after discovering that she’d lost her job.
The fear response is normal. And not useful. There’s absolutely, positively nothing wrong or inadequate or weak about reacting with fear to the news that you have been laid off. The key, however, is to not stay in fear for long.
All human peak performance research supports that human beings are at their best when they feel their best. High-grade interpretations of reality lead to the activation of all forms of creative genius.
If we are truly committed to creating excellence for ourselves we need to do an excellent job of interpreting all of reality in skillful ways. And that’s what this episode is dedicated to – specifically interpreting the reality of being laid off in masterful ways that can lead to the creation of miracles that wouldn’t have been possible if not for the “adversity” in the first place.
