The Most Important Question to Ask Yourself…

Why can't you relax? Do you feel guilty if you sleep in? Do you have a hard time simply sitting still doing NOTHING? The majority of adults do. At least in most Western cultures where things like "ambition" and "accomplishment" and the accumulation of wealth are prioritized above all else. These have become the measures of success - so often at the expense of joy and reward, and peace! The irony.

Orlando Shooting: The ONE Reason We Are Still Killing Each Other

We lack Emotional Mastery. The solution to all this killing, and violence in general, in the US, and in the world, has not to do with gun control. That's potentially a medicine, but it ain't a vaccine. Gun control as the solution is like treating obesity with diet pills. Stupid. You don't have to be shot to be a victim.

The 3 Ways We Play Small

Embedded within almost every shred of self-help, personal development, life coaching and success blogs and podcasts is a disastrous implication. The number one mistake that I witness people making in the pursuit of their dreams, desires, mission, goals is waiting. I had a coaching call yesterday with an ambitious woman who wants to open her own business. She was convinced that it would take 5 years. After some questioning, it became readily apparent that her 5 year estimate was ludicrous. It would never need to take 5 years in order for her to open the doors.  The […]

You Are Not Your Mind

You Are Not Your Mind

The ability to separate yourself from your thoughts is your ticket to freedom. You’re driving down the road and you miss a light. Then another one. Then some dude gets in front of you and goes really slow and you can’t get from behind him. You become livid and start cursing. Why? The only correct response to that question is this: In that moment you are permitting your thoughts to govern you. (Your thoughts in that moment just so happen to suck, because of low-grade interpretations of reality, but that’s a blog post for another day.) You are angry because […]
